What this protects, and what it does not
- Protected: the content of your messages is end-to-end encrypted — the relay cannot read it. Nobody can impersonate your identity without your key. Our relay keeps no accounts and no message history.
- Not protected (metadata): to route your chat, the relay and the hosting network can see your public identity key (a stable identifier), who you talk to and when, your IP address, and message sizes and timing. This is not network anonymity and it does not hide your contact graph. Do not rely on it to hide who you are, who you talk to, or where you are.
Create an identity to start. It is a key generated on this device and never leaves it.
Send it through a channel you trust. It works once, for one conversation.
